Wausa dominated the Class D1 state speech meet Thursday in Wausa, winning the sweepstakes and claiming three individual state titles.
Luc Bloomquist (poetry), Claire Vanness (serious) and Darren Nissen (humor) all won gold medals, leading Wausa to first place as a team. Vanness was also fourth in informative speaking.
Bloomquist joined Brice Barney, Blake Bloomquist, Ryan Kumm and Darren Nissen with third in oral interpretation of drama.
Also earning medals, Mary Johnson finished third in persuasive speaking, and Kumm was fourth in poetry. Aidan Kleinschmit and Claire Wiegert finished third in duets.
Also competing on Thursday, Kara Seagren was 10th in informative speaking. Allison Barney finished 14th in serious interpretation while Regan Hennings and Hannah Nelson finished 12th in duets.
