Services for Marilyn Puntney

Funeral services for Marilyn Puntney, age 83, of Wausa, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2016, at Evangelical Covenant Church in Wausa. Reverend Matt Norlen will officiate, with burial in Laurel City Cemetery in Laurel, Nebraska.

Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Nebraska.

Marilyn died Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at Good Samaritan Society in Bloomfield, Nebraska.

Marilyn Yvonne Puntney, daughter of Otto and Joy (Jensen) Maas, was born January 10, 1933, at Hoskins, Nebraska.  Marilyn graduated from Belden High School in 1950. On January 26, 1953, she was united in marriage to Floyd Puntney, at Laurel, Nebraska. Three children were born to them: Julie, Sharon, and Mary.

Marilyn and Floyd farmed near Randolph, Nebraska before moving to Wausa, Nebraska in 1968. They later moved into Wausa when they retired. Marilyn was a farm wife who enjoyed gardening, canning, and growing flowers. She was a certified nurse’s assistant at Wausa Nursing Home in her later years. Marilyn also enjoyed playing cards, visiting with neighbors, and attending 4-H activities with her daughter. She was a member of Evangelical Covenant Church in Wausa and was active in Ladies Aid.

Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Lonnie) Benson of Magnet, Nebraska and Mary (Butch) Sperry of Bloomfield, Nebraska; two granddaughters, Julie (Matt) Hohensee of Washington and Katie (Nathan) Landis of Germany; one great-granddaughter, Giana Landis; sister-in-law, Ardith Puntney; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Joy Maas; her husband, Floyd; infant daughter, Julie; sister, Pat (Carl) Putman; and several in-laws.
