Verdigre Speech Team Wins Medals At Wausa Invite

The VHS Speech Team went to Wausa on Saturday, February 13 to participate in the Wausa Invitational Speech Meet.   Twelve area schools competed in the day long tournament: Crofton, Pierce, Laurel-Concord, Wausa, Wynot, Hartington-Newcastle, Plainview, Niobrara, Creighton, Hartington Cedar Catholic, Bloomfield, and Verdigre.

Medal winners in the Novice Division were:  Stephanie Shakespaere - 1st in Poetry; Alexis Hrbek - 4th in Poetry, Aaron Pavelka -  3rd in Persuasive, OID Team of Blake Bartling, Stephanie Shakespaere, Morgan Hrbek, Ashlyn Hamilton, and Anthony Vakoc - 6th; and the Duet Acting Team of Bailey Frank and Stephanie Shakespaere - 1st place.  

 Medal winners in the Varsity Division were:  Megan Leasure - 4th in Serious Prose, and the OID Team of Austin Burkhardt, Madi Randa, Haylee Klawitter, Isaac Cook and Megan Cook - 5th Place.  Other competitors and their events were:  Shawn Sucha - Extemporaneous Speaking, Austin Burkhardt and Isaac Cook - Humorous Prose, Megan Cook and Blake Bartling - Duet Acting, Haylee Klawitter and Madi Randa - Duet Acting, Haylee Klawitter - Poetry, and the OID Team of Shawn Sucha, Aaron Pavelka, Megan Leasure and Bailey Frank.
