Verdigre Band Performs At NVC Instrumental Clinic

The Verdigre Band, directed by Mr. Pete Pavlik, performed at the Niobrara Valley Conference Band Clinic in Clearwater on Tuesday evening.  Bands from the East side of the conference came together in the Clearwater gym to perform several numbers together as well as some individually.  
Two mass bands performed.  The Festival Band, made up primarily of freshmen and sophomores, was directed by clinician Dr. David Bohnert.  He is a Professor and Director at Wayne State College.  He led the band in three different numbers.
The Honor Band, comprised mainly of juniors and seniors, was led by clinician Dr. Gary Reeves.  He is an Associate Professor of Music at the University of South Dakota.  The Honor Band played 4 numbers.
Seven bands with a total of more than 180 students participated in the clinic.  Students arrived after lunch and spent the majority of the afternoon practicing together.  The culmination of the day was the concert at 7 pm.
