Important Update For Farmers, Ranchers, Flood Victims

• Flood Crisis & Recovery Center at Legion Hall closes Saturday, April 13, 6:00 p.m.  That is one month to the day.  Dump site at Hrbek Construction also closes.
• Message from Knox County Emergency Mgmt:  Due to upcoming weather, FEMA is closing the Assistance Site in Center the rest of this week.  They will return in a couple weeks.
• Also, Laura Hintz advises farmers and ranchers to call the Bloomfield FSA office regarding agricultural aid (rather than the state numbers listed in last email).  USDA Service Center in Bloomfield, 402-373-4914
• Due to weather, the dates changed for the DHHS Disaster SNAP Benefit Application Site at Niobrara Fire Hall, 259 Spruce Ave.  It will be open Monday, April 15 to Thursday, April 18, 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.  This is for folks in the Verdigre-Bloomfield-Niobrara areas.
• Disaster Unemployment Assistance through NE Dept of Labor is for anyone unable to work due to flood and recovery, including business owners.  Here's the link that goes to exactly the right spot:  dol.nebraska.gov/UIBenefits/Programs/DUA  
• Low-interest Disaster Assistance Loans through SBA (Small Business Admin) are for "businesses of all sizes, most private nonprofit organizations, homeowners and renters".  Here's the link to apply online: https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela
• I have contact information to pass along for several volunteers willing to come back to Knox County for fencing.  Most grew up on farms; the rest are willing to learn.
• Southview Christian Church parishioners from Lincoln are bringing a TOWN MEAL (spaghetti and taverns) on Saturday, April 27 which will be served in Verdigre's American Legion Hall.  Plan to attend and celebrate a lot of flood clean-up work behind us.
