Mass of Christian Burial for John L. Levi, age 68, of Norfolk, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Norfolk. Reverend Dan Andrews will be the Celebrant, with burial in St. Ludger Catholic Cemetery in Creighton, Nebraska at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Norfolk, Tuesday June 18, 2019. Private family prayer service, Monday evening.
Brockhaus-Howser-Fillmer Funeral Home in Norfolk is in charge of arrangements.
John died Thursday, June 13, 2019, at St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation and Care Center in Norfolk.
John L. Levi of Norfolk, NE was born February 3, 1951, to Lloyd and Meta (Diekmann) Levi in Osmond, Nebraska. He grew up in the Lindy - Bloomfield area where he, along with his sister Rita, competed in Tap Dance Competitions, as well as singing for church events. John graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1969 and afterwards attended Wayne State College. John worked construction and then later for Nucor Steel.
John and Kaye (Becker) Levi were married at St. Ludger Catholic Church on April 22, 1978, residing in Norfolk, NE. Three sons were born to them, Brent, Dane, and Chad. Family gatherings revolved around the kids, backyard games, toys, baseball, and small-town Lindy, NE surrounded by cousins and friends.
John enjoyed collecting anything Cubs, comparing baseball stats, playing baseball, coaching little league for and with his sons. All of his favorites centered around his family, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, baseball and Pepsi.
John is survived by Kaye of Norfolk; son, Brent of Omaha, son, Dane (Yuliana), granddaughter, Diana of Atlanta, son, Chad of Omaha; sister, Rita (Ernie) Eckmann of Lindy; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike (Sandy) Becker, Mark (Annette) Becker, Tim (Kathy) Becker; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
John was preceded in death by his parents.
