Per family request, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center, 11700 SW 100th Street, P.O. Box. 117, Denton, Nebraska 68339.

Paul William Ellingson was born October 29, 1923, on the Ellingson Ranch, west of Center, Nebraska, to Oliver B. and Bessie E. (Squire) Ellingson. Paul married the love of his life and wife of nearly 60 years, Alyce Hilkemeier, on June 5, 1943 in Pierce, Nebraska.

Paul was well known as a talented brick mason and he was a commercial builder and home builder in Northeast Nebraska and Lincoln. Paul took great pride in the many projects, buildings, and homes that he constructed. Paul also farmed in Knox County, near the communities of Creighton and Wausa, and Paul and Alyce raised their family in the Wausa community.

Paul loved his family and they were central to his life. He enjoyed traveling to other states to visit his children, brothers, and other family members. Paul was a loving, caring husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather.

Paul’s interests were his work and his family and he had an excellent memory for details of family history and enjoyed telling stories to family members.

Paul is survived by his sons, Orin of Palm Springs, California, Dave (Emilie) of Lincoln, Nebraska, Mike (Nadine) of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Bruce (Barb Hoppe) Johnson of Lincoln; and daughter, Lori (Jeff) Burns of Raleigh, North Carolina; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alyce; daughter, Judy Ellingson Johnson; and brothers; Glenn, Robert, Burton, and Iver.
