Funeral Services For Norma Burt

Funeral services for Norma Burt, age 89, formerly of Creighton, Nebraska, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at Faith United Methodist Church in Creighton. Reverend Bev Hieb will officiate, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery in Creighton.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Creighton, with a 7:00 p.m. Eastern Star Service.

Norma died Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Louisville Care Center in Louisville, Nebraska.

Norma Jean Burt, daughter of George and Evelyn (Wirth) Soucek, was born May 7, 1928, at Walnut, Nebraska. Norma attended the Ruth School west of Verdigre through the eighth grade and then graduated from Verdigre High School. She then completed Business School at Commercial Extension in Omaha, Nebraska in 1946. Norma was married to James Burt on November 7, 1948, at United Methodist Church in Creighton. They were the parents of three children, Thomas James, Mary Jean, and Janelle Ann.

Norma worked at the ASCS Office in Center, Nebraska for two years. She then worked as a staff assistant for nearly 20 years with Nebraska Health and Human Services. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Creighton and received her 50 year member recognition in 2003. Norma was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 1151, and a 50 year member of the Order of The Eastern Star. She served on the Election Board, was AFSCME Retiree, and member of AARP. Norma loved to play cards and go fishing.

Norma is survived by her daughters, Mary (Thomas) Upshaw of Norfolk, Nebraska and Janelle (Tim) Cox of Louisville, Nebraska; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Tommy; parents, George and Evelyn Soucek; and many aunts, uncles, and loved ones.
