Delmar died Friday, January 13, 2017, at Avera Creighton Care Centre.

Delmar Anderson was born in Winnetoon, Nebraska on March 17, 1930. He attended school in Winnetoon and in Creighton, graduating from Creighton High School in 1947. From 1951 to 1953, Delmar served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. With the exception of his years in the Army, Delmar has been a resident of Winnetoon until moving to Creighton in 2007. On July 22, 1955, Delmar married Ruth Mueller of Creighton. That same year he purchased the Conoco tankwagon business from Arlie Jewell of Winnetoon. For 50 plus years, Delmar’s Conoco truck was a familiar sight as he delivered fuel to the citizens of Knox County.

Delmar was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Creighton, where he was active on the Church Council. He also helped with the maintenance at the church’s Bethesda Mini-Camp for many years. As a resident of Winnetoon, Delmar was a longtime member of the village board, and Winnetoon Fire Department. He was also a member of Ernest E. Jacobs American Legion Post 74 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1151.

Gardening, feeding the birds, and tree planting were some of Delmar’s favorite pastimes. He was also an avid follower of the Minnesota Twins, Nebraska Cornhuskers, and Creighton Bulldogs. He and Ruth particularly enjoyed being in attendance when the Minnesota Twins won the World Series in 1987.
Delmar has been a good friend and neighbor to the people of Winnetoon and surrounding communities all his life. He was also a historian of Knox County and the surrounding area.

Delmar is survived by his children, Taryn (Curt) Dohmen of Creighton, Nebraska, Brock Andersen of New Orleans, Louisiana, Derek (Judy) Andersen of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Stacy Kuhl of Osmond, Nebraska; grandchildren, Daina (Ben Jones of Papillion, Nebraska, Riley Dohmen of Creighton, Cale Dohmen of Omaha, Nebraska, and Garret Kuhl (fiancé Leah Gubbels) of Osmond; and great-grandson, Becker Jones.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; one grandchild; brother, Merlin Andersen; and sister, LaVeve Bonnesen.
