Funeral Services For Dean Knudsen-Bluebird

Funeral services for Dean M. Knudsen-Bluebird, age 60 of rural Niobrara, Nebraska, will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2014, at the Oyate Oyanke Community Center in Santee, Nebraska. Rick Thomas will officiate, with burial in the Crowe Family Cemetery, rural Niobrara. 

Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Oyate Oyanke Community Center in Santee, and continue until service time on Friday, with nightly Wake Services Wednesday and Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. 

Brockhaus Funeral Home of Niobrara is in charge of arrangements. 

Dean Knudsen-Bluebird died Monday, July 7, 2014, at his home. 

Dean Martin (Knudsen) Bluebird was born on August 10, 1953, at Wagner, South Dakota to Maxine White Lance and Orlo Bluebird. Dean has lived on Howe Creek (rural Niobrara, Nebraska) for going on 29 years with his beloved Darlene, who survives him. 

Dean is survived by five children, Deana Bluebird, Nate Sutta, Eliza Thomas, and Travis “TC” Thomas, all of Niobrara, Nebraska, and Jay Thomas of North Carolina; and was grandpa or “papa” to 21 grandchildren. Dean was also blessed with two families: the Bluebirds, sisters, Goldie and Crystal; brother, John; and step-mother, Pearl, all of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The Knudsen family: brothers, Ron, Matt, and Stan of Lake Andes, South Dakota; sisters, Debbie of Lake Andes, Bootz of Sioux Falls, and Brenda of Oklahoma. From these two families, Dean had many nieces and nephews. 

Dean left us suddenly and will be greatly missed by all.
