Arturo died Saturday, May 5, 2018, as the result of an accident.

Arturo C. Rouillard, (Mahpiya Ho Tanka Mani), age 39, of Santee, Nebraska was born March 20, 1979, in Sioux City, Iowa to Laura A. Rouillard and Arturo Arana. He lived most of his life in Sioux City where he received his GED. Arturo worked hard at a number of jobs. In 2010, he moved to Santee, Nebraska. In Santee, Arturo became a B.I.A. Wildland Firefighter working with his “band of brothers” for the past eight years. Arturo loved being a firefighter and thrived on helping others. He loved his family above all else. He was especially close to his mother Laura, and girlfriend, Adrienne Denney. Arturo began dating Adrienne five years ago. They did everything together from fishing to cruising and “bumping” to music. He was honored to become step-father to Adrienne’s precious children: Dakota, Georgianna, Nina, Taneice, and Tessa Denney. Arturo also loved being “Papa Art” to Adrienne’s beautiful grandbabies: Harmony, Amari Jaie, Mila, and Azarah. Adrienne and Arturo were inseparable.

Arturo also loved music, cars, ATVs and motorcycles. He loved storytelling and joking around and constantly making others laugh including his cousins, Michele Haller and Carrie Rouillard. Arturo’s humor was among his many gifts. In 2005, when Arturo’s beloved grandmother Ruby passed, he wrote a poem in her honor which he titled “I Sit and Cry.” Arturo was loving and was deeply loved by all, especially his mother. He would text his mother twice a day to check on her.

Arturo leaves behind his mother, Laura Rouillard; his auntie, Lynne Rouillard; cousins, Michele Haller (husband John), Carrie Rouillard, and their families; his hunka brother, James and Veronica Starr Comes Out and family. He also leaves behind all of his other aunties, uncles, cousins, and other extended family and close friends.

Arturo was preceded in death by his father, Arturo Arana; his maternal grandparents, Ted and Ruby Rouillard Robertson; paternal grandparents, Felix and Candelara Arana of Jalisco, Mexico; uncle Gary Rouillard, uncle Larry Rouillard; and auntie Emily Frazier.
