Funeral Services For Arlene Novacek

Funeral services for Arlene Novacek, age 93, of Verdigre, Nebraska will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 4, 2017, at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Verdigre. Reverend Kizito Okhuoya will officiate, with burial in Jelen Cemetery in rural Verdigre.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Arlene died Thursday, November 30, 2017, at Alpine Village in Verdigre.

Arlene F. Novacek, daughter of Charles V. and Angela (Marshall) Pavlik, was born July 27, 1924, seven miles west of Verdigre, Nebraska. Arlene’s father was a farmer and her mother was a housewife. She was the youngest of five children. Arlene spent her childhood in the rural Verdigre area where she attended District 40 School. On March 8, 1944, she was united in marriage to Joseph “Joe” Novacek by Father Oborny at St. Ludger Catholic Church in Creighton, Nebraska. They were blessed with two children, Richard Charles and Cheryl Lynn.

Arlene was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Verdigre. Arlene enjoyed playing cards, visiting, and watching TV.

Arlene is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Robinette of Page, Nebraska; son, Richard (Dolores) Novacek of Verdigre, Nebraska; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Wanda Novacek of Texas and Rose Pavlik of Canada.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe; son-in-law, Ron Robinette; four brothers, Louis Pavlik, Vennie Pavlik, Walter Pavlik, and Arthur Pavlik, her twin who died in infancy; and brother-in-law, Bernard Novacek.
