Funeral Services For Adeline Vavak

Funeral services for Adeline Vavak, age 92, of Verdigre, Nebraska will be 1:00 Saturday, December 19, 2015, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Verdigre. Reverend Terry Huber will officiate, with burial in Riverside Cemetery in Verdigre.
 
Visitation will be at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Verdigre, Friday December 18, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 pm
 
Adeline passed away Friday, December 11, 2015, at Haven Manor in Hickman, Nebraska.
 
Adeline M. Vavak, daughter of Edward and Bertha (Suhr) Bertschinger, was born October 9, 1923, at Creighton, Nebraska. Adeline attended Bazile and Kemma rural schools and graduated from Creighton High School. On May 8, 1946, she was united in marriage to Marvin O. Vavak at Creighton. 
 
Adeline was a certified teacher, homemaker, caregiver, cook, and mother. She enjoyed working at the Creighton Care Center and at Alpine Village care center in Verdigre for many years. Adeline especially enjoyed visiting with the elderly at Alpine Village. She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church.
 
Adeline is survived by her children, Marlene (Kenny) Maly, Darla (Dean) Posner, Pam Abels, James Vavak & friend Caryl Ann, Carol (Noel) Parrott, and Mona (Scott) Henery; six grandchildren, Kevin, Trenton, Kinsey, Tanner, Danielle, Matthew; and four great-grandchildren.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin; and a brother, Alfred Bertschinger; and her sister, Bernice Meredith.
 
Adeline has never forgotten her friends and family from Verdigre and surrounding area.  She so much enjoyed her 90th birthday party in Verdigre.  Adeline was so amazed that so many people came to honor her on her special day. She appreciated all the calls, cards, and letters she received from all of you. She especially liked getting the Verdigre Eagle every week to keep up with the hometown news.
 
Adeline loved the children and animals, she had a loving heart and wanted to make them feel loved and cared for, especially her beloved cat Freckles.
 
Memorials may be directed to Christian education for children at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Verdigre, NE, Good Shepherd Lutheran, Lincoln NE, Lamb of God Lutheran Hickman NE, or any animal care shelter of your choice in her name.
