Funeral Services Announced For Gordon Friesen

Funeral services for Gordon D. Friesen, age 83 of Forsyth, Missouri, will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at the Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church in Forsyth, Missouri. 

Visitation in Missouri will be Monday, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., at the Forsyth Whelchel Funeral Chapel in Forsyth. 

Funeral services for Gordon D. Friesen will then be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Christ Lutheran Church in Bazile Mills, Nebraska, with burial in the Greenwood Cemetery at Creighton, Nebraska, with Pastor Terry Huber officiating. 

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the Church in Bazile Mills. 

Brockhaus Funeral Home of Creighton and Forsyth Whelchel Chapel of Forsyth, Missouri, are in charge of arrangements. 

Gordon died Thursday, June 26, 2014, at the Forsyth Nursing and Rehab in Forsyth. 

Gordon D. “Gordie” Friesen, son of Abraham and Helen (Heinrichs) Friesen, was born April 29, 1931, at Henderson, Nebraska. Gordon spent his youth growing up in Hampton, Nebraska before entering the United States Navy. On May 7, 1962, Gordon was married to Arletha “Peggy” Kolterman at Central City, Nebraska. Gordon and Peggy had 44 years together as husband and wife before Peggy’s death on December 23, 2006. 

Gordon retired from the New Holland Corporation in 1990 and he and Peggy moved from their home in Phillips, Nebraska, to Forsyth, Missouri. While living in Missouri, Gordon was a member of the Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church in Forsyth, where he was active in serving The Lord. Gordon died Thursday, June 26, 2014, at the Forsyth Nursing and Rehab in Forsyth, attaining the age of 83 years, one month, and 28 days. 

Gordon is survived by his daughters, Shelley (husband Mike) Griffin of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Carol Berglund of Winnetoon, Nebraska; son, Brad (wife Madeline) Theetge of Paso Robles, California; eight grandchildren, Mark, Kelley, Michelle, Heidi, Jeff, Bob, Nicole, and Samuel; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Peggy Friesen; brother, Stanley Friesen; son, Danny Friesen; granddaughter, Dawn Berglund; and son-in-law, Bill Berglund.
