Redwing Thomas, of Santee, often visits schools to give motivational speeches and talk about the Dakota Language. If the crowd is right, he will read his new children’s book and that’s exactly what he did in Santee last week.
The name of the book is Keya, and it isn’t a typical children's book. Keya is full of educational purpose. The book actually consists of four stories that are infused with traditional concepts and even has a glossary of Dakota words. Thomas intended this book to be great for both the classroom and for reading at home as well.
