Niobrara High School science teacher, Sharla Hanzlik, and her students involved with the purple loosestrife project at school, have been asked to speak at the 2014 North American Invasive Species Management Association Annual Conference, September 29th through October 1st at Fargo, North Dakota.
Hanzlik informed the Niobrara School Board about this honor, at the board's meeting earlier this month.
All expenses for the trip will be funded by the conference.
Among the conference highlights listed, will be a presentation from North Dakota State University (NDSU) on the long term success story for leafy spurge, a tour of the NDSU research and greenhouse facilities; presentations by Midwest Bio Control, USDA, and the Niobrara High School students' presentation about their Purple Loosestrife Project.
It is the eighth year Hanzlik and her class have been involved in the purple loosestrife project.
