The Alpha Lambda chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International met September 15 in Niobrara. As this was the first meeting of the new school year, yearbooks were handed out and the budget was approved. Wendy Coutts provided information about scholarships available for members. Mary Eiler reported on the Southwest Regional Conference she attended in Wichita, KS, followed by Karen Peters’ presentation about the Northwest Regional in Regina, Saskatchewan.
Ellen Brogie explained the project for the year called “Days for Girls.” The organization tries to empower women through education around the globe. To do their part, the group will be sewing sustainable kits for young girls in Africa, so that they will not have to miss school each month. They will use the money from the Rho State Achievement Award for the 2015 outstanding chapter won at State Convention to help support this project.
