This weekend's Mark Mullins Memorial Fishing Tournament has been postponed to Saturday, July 12. The Calcutta will still be Friday, June 20. A meal, Calcutta, live and silent auction will be at 6 p.m. at the Royal Auditorium. All teams planning to attend the tournament are asked to register by Friday to be part of the Calcutta. The public is invited to the free-will offering meal, with proceeds going toward scholarships. Tournament officials said the fourth annual fishing tournament has been moved due to low water levels on the Missouri River. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reduced water release at Gavins Point Dam due to potential flooding down stream. That has lowered the water level so much that the boat ramp at Verdel Landing is not currently accessible. Gavins Point Dam releases have been reduced from 30,000 cubic feet per second on June 15 to 12,900 cfs as of June 19, according to a press release by the Corps of Engineers. Tournament officials said, at this time, they are planning to keep the fishing tournament at Verdel Landing on Saturday, July 12. However, if the water level does not rise enough to use the boat dock, alternate plans may be announced. To stay informed on the tournament status, go to MarkMullinsFishingTournament.com. |
