On Friday, May 25, many people participated in Santee’s HEART Walk. The HEART Walk is a public walk from the Santee Spur on Highway 12 to Santee.
This nine mile walk is to honor all the people who have died along this road. Each person who died has a cross placed alongside the road to honor them. Many have flowers and decorations adorning them.
This year’s HEART Walk had two new crosses dedicated to the late Adrienne Denney and Arturo Rouillard.
The crowd walked, rode horses and drove cars down the road to honor all the crosses, stopping at each cross to sing a song for them.
The HEART Walk ended with a picnic for all those who participated.
