Knox County Economic Development Agency is pleased to announce the launch of its new tourism website www.nemissouririverarea.com. The new site features tourism-related information that introduces visitors to Knox County. The site went live on Wednesday, Oct. 15th, 2014 and is part of an effort by the Knox County Economic Development Agency to provide coordinated promotion of various tourism activities within the county. Matt Cerny, Knox County Economic Development Director commented on the site, “This is the first step in our effort to promote Knox County as a whole, as a tourist destination. There are many recreational and historical attractions in our county, and a unified effort provides the greatest benefit to all of our communities.” The website provides quick and easy access to information on Knox County attractions, recreation areas, lodging, hunting and dining. It also features links to its social media accounts, area lake conditions and a business directory. Potential visitors can also order a free visitors guide by submitting a form on the site. Knox County boasts some of Nebraska’s most popular recreational areas, such as access to the Lewis & Clark Lake and the Missouri River at the Weigand-Burbach Nebraska State Park in the Lewis & Clark State Recreation Area by Gavins Point Dam, and also the Niobrara River at the Niobrara State Park. It is also home to the Santee Sioux and Ponca Native American tribes, which draw numerous visitors each year to their powwows. It also offers many hunting and fishing opportunities and historical destinations such as the Devil’s Nest and Shannon Trail.
