After falling behind in the first two sets, the Niobrara/Verdigre Cougars volleyball squad looked to find their groove in the third, but ultimately it was the Neligh-Oakdale Warriors that took home the win Thursday night, 25-21, 25-14, 18-25 and 33-31.

In the third set, the Cougars jumped out to a quick start, leading 12-1 before the Warriors brought the score to 17-15. Niobrara/Verdigre would complete the set to force a fourth set.

In the fourth set, the Cougars fell behind 24-16 before battling back and forcing the set to continue. They went on to force match point 12 times, but eventually were not able to keep up with the Warriors as they closed out the match.

The Cougars now take the weekend to regroup before heading to Atkinson to take on the West Holt Huskies next Tuesday.

In other Knox County action on the court Thursday night:
Bloomfield falls flat against Winside, losing 25-13, 25-18 and 25-6.
Creighton can't find an answer for Elgin Public/Pope John, falling 25-18, 25-14 and 25-13.
Crofton falls in a thriller to Pierce in five sets, 25-13, 23-25, 25-22, 20-25 and 15-17.
