State-bound Crofton Boys, Girls Named CC District Champs

The Crofton boys and girls cross country teams are heading to state after winning the District D-2 meet at the Twin Creeks Golf Course in Pender on Thursday. 

The top-3 teams at districts qualify the entire team for the state meet.

Warrior sophomore Haley Arens crossed the finish line first in the girls race with a time of 19:43. Crofton's Krista Zavadil recorded a time of 21:26 for 5th place, followed by Kyla Dendinger in 7th (21:52); Samantha Altwine 8th (21:58); and Jessica Lange 15th (23:12). Rounding out the team was Keeley Hagge with a 24:32.

Junior Jake Neuhalfen was the top finisher for the Crofton boys in 4th place with a time of 17:34. Tanner Arens earned 9th place with a time of 18:14 and Brady Stucky was 12th a time of 18:29. Rounding out the team were Justin Goeden 18:49; Tyler Janssen 19:11; and Mark Lange 19:32. 

The NSAA State Cross Country Championships will be held at the Kearney Country Club on Friday, October 23. The approximate starting times are: Girls Class D—2 p.m. and Boys Class D—3 p.m.
