The "Chair-ity" Auction for the Relay for Life is gaining entries. A few options are seen here. Other chairs can be seen at different businesses in Crofton.
Erin Dennis of the Knox County Relay for Life has provided this schedule for next week's event.
"All for One! One for All! Join us in Crofton for the American Cancer
Society's Relay for Life of Knox County on Friday, July 10th. We are very excited for this year's inspiring night to honor our loved ones who have battled or are currently battling cancer. Everyone is invited! You do not have to be registered to attend. We would love to see representatives from all communities in Knox County.
Activities for the event (times are approximate):
. 4pm: Kids' Activities begin. -Look forward to bounce houses and
other activities for youth.
. 5pm: Penny's High Steppers Performance - Enjoy a performance from
. 6:00pm: Opening Ceremony - Kick off the evening with the
motivational Survivor Lap.
. 7:00pm: Auction - Teams are encouraged to donate an item to the
auction. New this year is the Chair-ity auction. Donate a chair/bench of
any size, shape, and color to this fun addition.
. 8:00pm: Bingo - Play Bingo for your chances to win tickets to
Ashfall Fossil Beds, tickets to the County Fairs, and other prizes.
. 9:00pm: Poker Lap - It's the Relay's spin on a poker run.
. 9:30pm: Toy Lap - Participants are encouraged to bring toys to
donate to hospitals for kids battling cancer. Suggested donations include
movies, books, games, teddy bears, tie blankets and other toys.
. 10:00pm: Luminaria Ceremony - Light up the track with Luminarias
purchased in honor of or in memory of loved ones with cancer. This
ceremony is beautiful. It inspires hope and brings peace to the
. 11:00pm: Neon/Glow Scavenger Hunt - Keep the momentum going with a
fun and unique scavenger hunt.
. 11:45pm: Closing Glow Laps - Light up the track with glow sticks,
glow jewelry, and anything you can find that will glow, twinkle, sparkle or
shine. Make the last laps memorable, make yourself and your team seen on the
. 12:00pm: Wrap-up the evening with the last lap.
Volunteers will help you track your laps this year. Prizes will be awarded
for those with the most laps, so come ready to walk!
