Five Crofton athletes took home gold medals from the elite Norfolk Track and Field Classic on Thursday while over a dozen others also medaled.
Monica Wortmann of Crofton won both the shot put and discus while Quin Wragge of Crofton won the 800. Wragge was also part of the winning 4x800 team of Allison Arens, Monica Arens and Haley Arens.
Knox County dominated the shot put with three throwers in the top three. Wortmann and Monica Arens went 1-2 for Crofton while Tori Clausen was fifth.
Also finishing in the top three on the day were Haley Arens of Crofton (1600), Crofton’s 4x400 relay, Rebecca Eggerling of Creighton (long jump), Jaden Janssen of Crofton (3200) and Austin Hegge of Wausa (100 and long jump). Hegge was just an inch out of first place in the long jump.
