Crofton Volleyball Heads To State After Taking District Title

It was a five set thriller in the Norfolk Catholic Gym as the Crofton Warriors took on the Lady Wolfpack of Elgin Public Pope John for the district title and a ticket to the state tournament. 

The defending state runner-up Warriors dropped the first set to the Wolfpack, but picked up the next two. In a close fourth set the Wolfpack pulled ahead, pushing the game to five sets. Crofton took the game 3-2, winning 18-25, 25-16, 25-13, 23-25, 15-5.

The Warriors put down 58 kills on the night, 22 of them from Junior Monica Arens. The team had a total of 10 serving aces and picked up an impressive 116 digs. Junior Kelsey Sanger led the team in digs with 33.

The Warriors will attempt to advance on their 20-9 record in the state tournament next week.
