A Crofton man was cited earlier this month for burning without a permit.
According to the Knox County Sheriff's Office, officers responded to a request by the Crofton Volunteer Fire Department to investigate a burning without a permit violation at 11 p.m. on June 22.
The Sheriff's office said Delwin C. Walter, Jr. was observed actively burning a large pile of debris and continuing to place debris on the fire.
Assistant Fire Chief Michael Guenther met with the responding deputy and requested that a citation be issued.
Due to the nature of the fire, the Crofton Volunteer Fire Department decided to let the debris burn. Walter was issued a citation at the scene for being in violation of Nebraska Revised Statuire #81-520.01 (Burning without a permit.)
