For the second time in school history, and the first since 2003, the Crofton Warriors are headed to the state championship.
The Warriors took down Battle Creek in a rematch from the regular season, winning 19-14.
Crofton got the scoring started early in the second quarter thanks to an Ethan Poppe four-yard score. Battle Creek then tied it up with just under three minutes remaining in the half, but Tanner Crosley took the ball 54 yards to give Crofton a 13-7 lead going into the break.
In the second half, neither team was able to get much going in the third. Early in the fourth, however, Jaden Janssen took a one-yard keeper in to give Crofton a 19-7 lead. Battle Creek tried to mount a comeback, ultimately failing to send the Warriors on.
Crofton will now prepare for their second-ever state title game Tuesday, November 22 at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln. They will take on Wilber-Clatonia. Kick off is set for 10:15 A.M.
