Santa and Mrs. Claus have arrived in Creighton.  While Santaland opened its gates last week and flipped the switch last week, Santa’s Workshop opened last night for the first time this year.

Cory Frisch, Creighton Chamber of Commerce President, said he’s excited for the twentieth anniversary of Santaland.

“It’s a kick for us to have 20 years of Santaland in Creighton.   It’s a big hit for Creighton right now,” said Frisch.

In 1995, Ernie and Sharon Christiansen donated several of the original Christmas displays, lights and elves that can be seen in Santa’s workshop.

Since the original donation, SantaLand has been organized and maintained by the Creighton Area Chamber of Commerce.  Organizations and individuals have played a significant in this production over the years.

“Chamber members take their night and they serve coffee, cookies and hot chocolate.  It’s a time for all the kids to come and see Santa and Mrs. Claus,” Frisch said.

Visitors can also write and hand-deliver letters to Santa as well as enjoy refreshments provided by local businesses, organizations and other groups.

“It’s exciting to see the kids come in and see Santa and the new attire we have done for the place," Frisch said.

The 16 motorized elves that can be seen in Santa’s Workshop recently got updated.

SantaLand is open until Dec. 31 from 6-10 p.m. Santa’s Workshop is open Dec. 1-23 from 6-9 p.m.
