A Plainview woman was lifeflighted after a two-vehicle accident left her trapped inside their SUV on Monday.
According to the Knox County Sheriff's Department, Evelyn Kroeger of Plainview was flown to Sioux Falls for treatment of her injuries after the Lincoln MKT she was driving collided with a 2001 Grand Am driven by Khristina Nelson of Plainview.
The accident was reported at approximately 10:01 a.m. at the intersection of Hwy 59 and 538th Avenue near Creighton. According to the sheriff's Department, Nelson was southbound on 538the Ave when she failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign and collided with Kroeger's vehicle. Delford Kroeger was a passenger in the Lincoln.
The two vehicles came to rest in the south ditch of Hwy 59, with the Lincoln resting on its roof. Evelyn Kroeger had to be removed using the jaws of life equipment by emergency personnel.
The three occupants of the vehicles were taken to Creighton Hospital by two Creighton ambulances and a Wausa ambulance.
Both Creighton and Wausa Fire Departments and Rescue Squads were at the scene. Investigation was conducted by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office with the help of the Nebraska State Patrol.
