Due to mechanical failure the city of Creighton is producing high nitrate levels. People at risk include infants under 6 months old, pregnant, breastfeeding or risk of comprised immune system.
Bottled Water is available at Gragert’s Grocery Story at 601 Main Street.
The City of Creighton will notify the public when nitrate are with in legal limits.
Residents are reminded not to boil the water because it will not reduce the level of nitrate, and could make things worse. Excessive boiling can make the nitrates more concentrated, because nitrates remain behind when the water evaporates.
Adults and children older than six months can drink the tap water (nitrate is a concern for infants because they cannot process nitrates in the same way adults can). However, if you are pregnant or have specific health concerns, you may wish to consult your doctor.
