For the second time in as many years, the City of Creighton has a new administrator.

After the resignation of former administrator/clerk/treasurer Lisa Parnell-Rowe in July to move closer to family, Lindsay Nelson has been named to the position.

Nelson, who will assume her duties full-time for the city on September 1, most recently worked for the Creighton Library. After 10 years at the library, she admits it will be a new challenge.

"It'll be a large learning curve," she said.

Over the past several years, the ACT position has come open several times. Each time, Nelson said she entertained the thought of applying. A former cleaning man for the library often encouraged her to apply every time the topic came up. When he passed away recently, Nelson felt like she had the right reason to apply.

"Everytime he'd say 'Lindsay, you got to apply for that job.' I just thought to make him smile, I'm going to put my name in the hat," she explained.

While there has been a revolving door of sorts with the position in recent years, Nelson, a Creighton native, wants everyone to know not to worry.

"I'm here to stay. I'm not going anywhere," she said.

Nelson's first order of business when she assumes full-time duties in September is to simply get acclimated to the new position. She intends to learn the city's systems and keep everything running smoothly. After that, she intends to do her part in building Creighton for the future.

"I hope to make Creighton more of a spotlight of Nebraska," she explained.
