Layne Ebel is a 7th grader at Creighton public school and a member of St. Wenscelaus in Verdigre. Ebel, like many other kids his age that attend St. Wenscelaus and many other churches, came to the point where he had to decide what to do for his community service project for confirmation.
With school fast approaching, Ebel decided he wanted to help those in need receive the school supplies necessary for this coming school year.
“I wanted to do something locally to help those in our community,” Ebel said.
He will be setting up the donation boxes in Creighton, Verdigre and Winnetoon to help both Creighton and Verdigre communities.
Ebel asks that anyone with new or lightly used school supplies, backpacks or gym shoes of any size to help his cause.
Drop off boxes in Verdigre are located at Verdigre Public Library, Tom’s Family Foods, Pinnacle Bank, the Carousel and in Winnetoon at Brunswick State Bank.
Boxes can also be found in Creighton at Creighton Public Library, Midwest Bank, Dollar General and Gragerts Grocery Store.
Ebel is also taking monetary donations, which he will take shopping for school supplies. All extra supplies that don’t go to children will be donated to Verdigre and Creighton schools.
If interested in helping this cause, you can send donations to Layne Ebel at 206 Winnetoon Clark Ave., Creighton, NE 68729 or meet him in Verdigre August 8 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. or in Creighton August 9 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. or simply leave donations in his drop boxes.
