After placing third at state golf in 2015, the Creighton team was able to one-up themselves in 2016 to earn the state runner-up trophy for Class D at the state golf meet in North Platte.
The meet was held Tuesday and Wednesday at Lake Maloney Golf Course. Creighton would finish just behind Randolph in the team standings, scoring a two-day total of 686.
Sophomore Chase Largen led the Bulldogs with a 3rd place finish after a second round score of 75. Fellow sophomore Brady Brockhaus also finished in the top 20, tying for 19th after a second round 86. The lone Creighton senior, Cole Wetzler, shot an 88 both days to finish tied for 22nd place. Freshman Bryce Zimmerer also showed consistency at the meet, shooting a 91 both days to earn a tie for 33rd place. Rounding out the scoring for the Bulldogs was Junior Ryan Neumann, who shot a 92 on the second day to tie for 57th.
With Wetzler being the lone senior on the team, Creighton looks to once again improve on their 2016 campaign going in to next season.
