A Creighton man has been arrested for a Norfolk burglary after attempting to redeem stolen lottery tickets.
Brandon Hunt, 24-year old of Creighton, was arrested Saturday in Creighton for allegedly burglarizing the Riverside Convenience Store at 1100 Riverside Boulevard in Norfolk.
The crime was discovered about 6 a.m. Friday, and among the items stolen were multiple packages of cigarettes, bottles of alcohol and several $1 Nebraska Lottery scratch tickets.
The stolen tickets were reported to the Nebraska State Lottery, and when Hunt attempted to redeem them at a Creighton convenience store, lottery officials notified the Creighton Police Department. Creighton Police determined that Hunt’s shoes and clothing matched that from a surveillance video of the Norfolk burglary. They also recovered some of the stolen cigarettes.
Hunt was detained by Creighton Police and placed under arrest by a Nebraska State Patrol Trooper. He was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
