Creighton Is Guaranteed To Play In State Championship

Creighton is the last undefeated team left in the Class C Junior Legion Baseball Tournament and is guaranteed a chance at the state championship, regardless of Tuesday's outcome.

Creighton only scored three runs on Monday, but that was enough to hold off Louisville/Weeping Water in a battle of unbeatens. 

Creighton picked up the 3-1 victory, advancing to the semifinals at Greg Paesl Memorial Field in Creighton. Battle Creek moved up through the loser's bracket to earn a chance at Creighton in the 8 p.m. game on Tuesday. 

Because it's a double-elimination tournament and Creighton is the only remaining undefeated team, the host has to lose twice to be eliminated. That is not possible without playing for the state championship on Wednesday.

If Creighton wins Tuesday night, there will be a 5 p.m. championship game on Wednesday. With a loss Tuesday, Creighton would play in an 8 p.m. championship game. Creighton could win Tuesday at 8 p.m., lose the 5 p.m. game Wednesday and still force an 8 p.m. championship game.
