Two buildings were a total loss in a fire outside of Creighton Sunday night.
Creighton fire chief Kevin Sonnichsen said that crews were called to the blaze at approximately 9 p.m. Sunday night outside of Creighton. A large hay barn was fully engulfed when crews arrived on scene with another nearby structure quickly catching fire. The hay barn had approximately 600 square bales of hay inside and both buildings were a total loss.
22 Creighton firefighters responded with seven trucks. Mutual aid was also requested from Bloomfield. Crews were on scene until 3 a.m.
The cause of the fire is still undetermined but it is believed that lightening may have been a factor in the blaze.
