Despite scoring 19 runs in their previous two games of the tournament, the Creighton Juniors were unable to keep their bats hot against David City, losing 3-2 at the Class C Area 2 tournament.
Just a day after shutting out Battle Creek to keep their season alive, Creighton met David City for a low-scoring battle. David City got on the board first, scoring one run in the bottom of the first inning. Creighton added their first run of the game a few innings later, in the top of the fourth. David City matched that run in the bottom of the frame to reclaim the lead before Creighton once again tied the game with one run in the fifth. Unfortunately for Creighton, David City was once again able to match that run, scoring the eventual game winning run in the bottom of the frame to take a 3-2 lead.
Creighton was only able to muster two hits off David City's pitchers. The Creighton defense committed two errors while allowing eight hits. John Novicki took the loss on the mound for Creighton.
Creighton's season ends, but not before a league championship and a deep run in the area tournament.
