Bulldogs, Cougars Brave Cold At Neligh Cross Country Meet

Runners from Creighton and Niobrara/Verdigre posted fantastic times Monday afternoon in Neligh, despite battling rain and cold temperatures.

Creighton was led by a third place finish from Garrison Hazen with a time of 16:41. Zac Hazen was not far behind, finishing seventh with a time of 17:25. Colton Adams’s time of 18:35 put him in sixteenth place while Connor Hazen came in nineteenth with his time of 18:56. Tegan McLean rounded out the Bulldog runners with a time of 19:52.

Niobrara/Verdigre also had a strong showing on the day, led by Dillon Ives, whose time of 17:30 was good for eighth place. Fellow Cougar Masi LaPointe finished fourteenth with a time of 18:30, barely ahead of Angel Grant’s time of 18:31. Issac Justo sprinted through the finish for a time of 18:37, good for eighteenth place while Issac Cook rounded out the top 20 with a time of 19:05. Christian Swalley brought in a time of 20:27 and Alex Bustamante finished in 24:15.

Gensis Saul represented the Cougars on the girl’s side, finishing just outside of the top 20 with a time of 29:59.

In the junior high run, Daniel Pavelka took fourth for Niobrara/Verdigre with a time of 8:37, while Jace Hoferer was the top Bulldog boys runner with an eighth place finish at a time of 8:59.

Jessica Stevens led the girls of Creighton, finishing sixth at 10:04. Katharina Rice was not far behind, taking seventh at 12:11 while Mallory Nielsen took ninth at 13:45 and Megan Doerr took tenth with 14:59. Gabbi Swalley took eighth for Niobrara/Verdigre at 13:44.
