Scrap Tire Collection For Knox County Friday In Center

Bring your scrap tires to the collection in Center this Friday from 8 am to 3 pm.  It will end sooner if the limit of 200 tons is reached. The collection will be located at the Center County Shed on the south edge of Center along Hwy. 84 and will be on a "first-come, first-serve" basis.  
There is no limit to the amount of tires that can be brought and also no cost for the service.  
Here are a few guidelines for the day:
  • Tires must be removed from rims as no rims will be accepted.
  • No dealers or those who collect a tire tax/disposal fee will be allowed.
  • Collection is limited to Knox County residents - license plates will be checked.
  • No early drop-offs.
  • Be prepared to give a count or weight ticket for your tires.
  • Be prepared to unload your tires.
  • No floater tires allowed. 

Car/pickup tires weigh approximately 20 lbs. each;  truck tires, 100 lbs.; rear tractor tires, 300 lbs.

Funding for this event is through the Scrap Tire Reduction and Recycling Incentive Fund, NE Dept of Environmental Quality.
