Bloomfield has seen a few new businesses pop up. This week the citizens of Bloomfield have their eye on RusTique Furniture.
Rachelle Pinkelman started RusTique as an online store in 2017 and now has a storefront on Broadway in Bloomfield. RusTique is a combination of rustic and unique furniture that has been restored or re-invented.
“My husband and I have been creating unique household items from bed frames, chairs, screen doors, etc.” Pinkelman said. “I love being able to create something completely different than the initial purpose of an item.”
Pinkelman said she enjoys “junking” as a hobby and believes restoring a vintage piece of furniture to a clean and functional piece is satisfying.
“I've been blending new and old with antique furniture,” she said.
Finding furniture to restore can be difficult and repurposing it can be time consuming, making custom restoration projects something that Pinkelman offers on a limited basis.
RusTique also features custom signs along with the unique furniture. In the near future she hopes to be able to take custom orders.
Other future plans include having paint and technique classes as well as projects with local youth. She also plans to expand into florals and wreaths.
RusTique provides more than furniture and custom signs, they also supply paint, decor, health and beauty products.
There will be a grand opening Saturday, August 25 where Pinkelman is offering two prize drawings, one for a child’s Lego station that holds all those little Legos and one is for a Fusion basket retailing at $100.
Fusion paint is a special paint available for purchase at the store. The Fusion line includes over 54 colors and is odorless as well as lead, phthalate, formaldehyde & ammonia free. These paints will be 15 percent off during the grand opening event.
Furniture, decor and floral products will also be 10 percent off for the grand opening.
