BY KATHY SONNENFELT [email protected] The City of Bloomfield requests the help of citizens in easing the snow removal process during a snow emergency. Snow emergencies are declared when snowfall reaches 3 inches or more within 24 hours or less. According to officials, during a snow emergency, parking is prohibited on the snow emergency routes which include the following: 1) Main Street from Randolph St. to 2nd St., 2) Broadway from Lincoln St. to the bridge over Little Bazile Creek, 3) Benton St. from Broadway to McNamara St., and 4) 2nd St. from Jay St. to West Bazile St. When snow is threatening or snow plows are already in operation citizens should move their vehicles off the streets as soon as possible. For safety, drivers are asked not to pass by any trucks or pay loaders. Residential sidewalks should also be cleared within 24 hours of accumulation and free of ice. Fire hydrants should always be kept free of snow as well in case of fire. |
