This June, Bloomfield's music department will be making its trip to Nashville. Every four years the music boosters provide an opportunity for our music students to travel in a way many of them do not have the opportunity to experience.

"We are very excited to announce that we will be heading to Nashville, Tennessee from June 1 through June 5," music teacher Sheila Lange said.

While on the trip, the students will experience everything from historical landmarks to direct instruction from a respected music director to the Grand Old Opry. Student’s will also have the opportunity to be recorded in an actual recording studio as well as have a night time ghost tour in downtown Nashville among other things. This trip is bound to be a wonderful experience for all who attend.

Cost for each student to go is roughly $500. Each student pays a $100 deposit and hopes to fundraise the rest. Students are expected to help provide resources for fundraising as well as be a part of the fundraising process.

The 8th Annual Music Showcase is coming up next month. This is a great way to kick off Music in Our Schools Month, have an opportunity to experience the music department in a relaxed and fun environment, and support students in their growth as musicians and human beings.

This year’s theme is The Greatest Show featuring songs form musicals both new and old. Lange hopes when guests attend their show that they will recognize most, if not all, of the tunes they will be performing.

The meal this year will be ham, scalloped potatoes, green beans, homemade dessert and a drink. Price is $7 per adult and $5 per students, children 5 and under are free.

Students in the music department have begun selling tickets. Tickets will be available at the door; however, presale tickets are preferred to help ensure the proper amount of food.

Again, there will be a silent and grand auction. Past items have included anything from a weekend getaway to homemade items to gift baskets of favorite food.

In two weeks, an advertisement will be posted listing the auction items that have been donated at that time. Anyone interested in donating to the auction please contact Sheila Lange at slange@blfdbees.org. Email works best, but she can always be contacted at the high school during school hours.

“Thank you for the continued support of our students and music department. We are truly blessed to be a part of such a giving and loving community,” Lange said.
