After falling behind 7-5 in the first round of the Class C Area 1 Junior Legion Tournament in Neligh Friday, Bloomfield/Wausa used a six-run fifth inning to cruise past Crofton, winning 13-8.
After giving up four runs in the first inning, Bloomfield/Wausa kept the game close before breaking it wide open in the fifth thanks to a McGuire Mackeprang double and a Gaige Hegge triple. The two hits came on back-to-back pitches and scored five of the six Bloomfield/Wausa runs in the inning. Hegge scored on a Drew Munter sacrifice groundout two pitches later.
Crofton was able to jump out to an early lead thanks in part to an Ethan Poppe double in the first, but could not hold on to the lead.
With the win, Bloomfield/Wausa advances to the next round to face the winner of the Neligh/Hartington game. First pitch is scheduled for Saturday at 5 p.m. Crofton falls to the loser's bracket and will face the loser of the Neligh/Hartington game Saturday at 2 p.m.
