For those that have found themselves in a bind, the Verdigre Community Foundation Fund (VCF) has implemented an idea that works for everyone through the Verdigre Little Food Pantry.
Members of the VCF came up with the idea of a food pantry where folks in the community can pickup and drop of non-perishable food goods. The idea is that those in need can have access to a few basic necessities like food and toiletries.
“The idea is to give if you have extra and take if you are in need,” said VCF President, Brian Vokac. Everything about the food pantry is done through donations, including the pantry itself. Students from the Verdigre High School shop class built the pantry with supplies donated by the VCF.
The location of the food pantry is on the east side of the small behind the Verdigre Carousel Thrift Shop located at Main street.
The VCF is an affliate of the Nebraska Community Foundation which encourages people from all walks of life to give back to their community by providing a full range of gift opportunities.
