Creighton met #2 seed Winnebago in the quarterfinals of the 2018 Lewis & Clark Tournament in Wausa this evening.
Creighton's Noah Lilly struck first to put points on the scoreboard. Shortly after, Chase Largen drained a three-pointer to move up 5-0 on Winnebago two minutes into the game. Winnebago rallied to put nine consecutive points up before Lilly hit again.
Winnebago took advantage of a foul shot with 1:39 left in the first to move its lead to four. Lilly tied up the score at 11 with consecutive fieldgoal and Largen finished out the quarter with a pair of freethrows to move Creighton back into the lead at the end of the quarter.
Lilly started the 2nd to push the Bulldogs to a four point lead. Winnebago came alive and ran up 20 points while stopping the Creighton offense in its tracks. The Indians held a commanding lead at the half at 31-15.
Following the half, both teams went back an forth with Lilly putting up 10 on his own in the third quarter. Winnebago extended its lead to 21.
With a strong four minutes by the Indians, they racked up eleven points to the Bulldog three. As the game came to an end, Creighton finished out strong to put another nine points, but was not enough. Winnebago took the game 71-40 knocking the Bulldogs hopes.
Noah Lilly finishes with 22 points followed by Chase Largen with 9.
Creighton will the host Wausa boys tomorrow night for a regular season matchup.
