Wausa Public High School Senior Mary Johnson participated in the Distinguished Young Woman of Nebraska scholarship program on July 17 at Bennington High School in Omaha. Johnson is the daughter of Terry Johnson and Julie Wisch. She received $700 in cash scholarships including 3rd Place Overall ($350) and an Interview Scholarship ($350). Additionally she is eligible for tuition scholarship offerings from Gustavus Adolphus College, Randolph College, Hood College, the University of Idaho and the University of West Alabama. Distinguished Young Women is a program specifically for high school senior girls, focusing on excellence in scholarship, leadership and talent. Haley Bonge of Omaha Burke High School was named the Distinguished Young Woman of Nebraska for 2017 and Christa Yong of Millard North was 2nd Place Overall.
