Congratulations to the Wausa Lady Vikings, champions of the Wausa Post Holiday Tournament. They defeated the NV Lady Cougars 41-32 on Saturday to claim the championship.
Tara Munter led the way for the Vikings with 15 points. Other scorers were Michaela Timmerman with 8, Regan Hennings and Kayla Kleinschmit with 5 each, Krissy Kumm with 4, Ali Barney with 3, and Megan Kleinschmit chipping in 1.
The Lady Vikings now have a 9-3 record and will play their next game at Randolph on January 15.
The Lady Cougars fall to 3-8. They play next on Tuesday in Niobrara vs. Wynot.
In the girls' consolation game, the Osmond Lady Tigers defeated Ewing 53-30.
In boys' action, Wausa took on Osmond in the championship game. Osmond was victorious, winning 73-40. Wausa's leading scorer was Gaige Hegge with 9 points. Scoring 8 were Ghatlin Hegge and Ryan Kumm. Aidan Kleinschmit added 7, Tyson Kaiser 6, and Travis Gillilan added 2. Wausa falls to 2-10.
In the consolation game, Niobrara-Verdigre defeated Ewing 60-14. Their record is now 9-2.
