Verdigre Kolach Days

Verdigre's 47th annual Kolach Days will be held from the 11th through the 14th of June, 2015. 

The Verdigre Improvement Club is sponsoring the events of this years Kolach Days. A list of the weekends events be found below. Also located below is a link to the Kolach Days Poster.

Thursday, June 11th
  • Variety Show - "Looking Back/Moving Forward" will be presented by the Verdigre Community Chorus on at 7 p.m. at the handicap accessible, air-conditioned school in Verdigre. The program includes a variety of songs from each decade with special performances by the Verdigre Drill Team. A meal with reserved seating is available for the Thursday night performance for $22. The cost of reserved seating without the meal is $12 and general admission is $8 at the door. Friday, June 12th
  • Pool Party - Free swimming from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. at the Wildwood Acres Pool. The Pool party will last from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. Prizes will be given throughout the party.
  • Turtle Races - The Doc Walstrom Memorial Turtle Races will start at 4 p.m. and be held at the Chalupnik Park. Registration begins at 3 p.m. Only Box and Painted Turtles will be raced. There will be an award given for the largest turtle.
  • Beer & Wine Tasting - Jim's Fine Wines will hold a beer and wine tasting from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. at the ZCBJ Hall. Admissions are $5.
  • Minute-To-Win-It - Registration for the event will be from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. The participants can play until the event has concluded. The games will take place at the Wildwood Acres Tennis Court. The event is sponsored by Jack's Qwickshop.
  • Variety Show - At 7 p.m. there will be a repeat performance by the Verdigre Community Chorus. Reserved seating is available for $22 and general admission will be $8 at the door. (for more details see Thursday's schedule)
  • Royal Ball/Polka Dance Contest - The Royal Ball will last from 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. at the ZCBJ Hall. The Polka Dance Contest will be held at 8 p.m., with the coronation to be held at 9 p.m. The Music will be provided by the Tyndall Accordion Club.
  • The Chad Lee Band - The band will perform from 9 p.m. - 1 a.m. at Misty's Soakers, with no cover charge.



Saturday, June 13th
  • 5 K Run-Walk & 10 K Run - Each run/walk will begin at 8 a.m. at the Fire Hall. Registration begins at 7 a.m. The $15 registration fee includes t-shirt, drink, fruit, and kolaches. Pre-register by emailing your name and shirt size to: lucym05@yahoo.com. Sponsored by Verdigre Booster Club and Verdigre Rescue Squad.
  • Mud Volleyball Tournament - The tournament will be held at the north end of the football field and will start at 9:30 a.m. An entry fee of $60 per team is required. The tournament it limited to 24 teams. Pre-register and prepay by June 6th. Contact Pat Svec at 402-394-8620 or Cole Sokol at 402-851-0501.
  • Free Zumba Class - The class will start at 10 a.m. and be located at Chalupnik Park. The class is being offered by Studio J's Fitness.
  • Czech Ethnic Meal - The Catholic Church will be hosting a meal starting at 10:30 a.m. They will be serving Koprova, goulash, hot dogs, sauerkraut, vdolky, kolaches, rohlicky, coffee, lemonade and tea.
  • Kiddie Parade - Registration begins at 10 a.m. at Alpine Village or pre-register  by calling Phyllis Douglas at 402-668-2209. The theme is "Wild Safari." The parade begins at 11 a.m. There is no entree fee, but you can earn a cash prize. There will be a lunch stand with ice cream and popcorn also available. The Drill Team will perform after the parade.
  • Sand Dig - To immediately follow the Kiddie Parade at Alpine Village. You can dig for money and prizes!
  • Vendor Show - To last from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. and will be located in the school gym. 
  • Duck Races - To start at 1:30 p.m. (or after the Kiddie Parade). The event is sponsored by the Community Daycare.
  • School Tours - Tours to be given from 1 p.m.- 3 p.m.
  • VHS Alumni Banquet - Registration and social hour from 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. at the ZCBJ Hall, with banquet to begin at 6:30 p.m.
  • Street Dance - The dance will be held from 9 p.m. - 1 a.m. Music by "Red Eye." There will be a $5 cover charge for admission to the dance.  NO COOLERS!!!


Sunday, June 14th
  • Annual Polka Mass - To begin at 9:30 a.m. at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church is the Annual Polka Mass. All faiths are welcome to attend.
  • United Methodist Church Meal - The meal will start at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church. They will be serving roast pork, fried chicken, sauerkraut, dumplings, green beans, salad bar, and desserts. Kolaches to be sold by the dozen.
  • VHS Drill Team - The drill team will be performing at 1 p.m. in front of the Main Street Grandstand.
  • Grand Parade - The annual Grand Parade will begin at 1:30 p.m. Entries taken until 12:30 p.m. For more information, contact Jim Sokol at 402-668-2892. Shaded seating offered at Chalupnik Park. The parade will be followed by the raffle drawings.
  • Kolach Eating Contest - The contest will be held on Main Street immediately following the parade. No Entry Fee.
  • Firemen's Water Fight - Water Fight to be held after the parade on Main Street.
  • Polka in the Park - There will be music by Angie and the Polka Toons from 2 p.m. - 7 p.m. Bring your own cooler.
