Nearly 250 students from across the area gathered in Orchard Monday for the NVC Choral clinic. Fred Ritter,  a retired music educator from Columbus, was the clinician for the day, and directed the mass choir that evening.

Five individual choirs, including Verdigre's directed by Mr. Pete Pavlik, sang before the mass choir. Their  selection was "Celebrate Music" by Joseph M. Martin.

A highlight of the evening was the performance by the directors. They  sang a rousing rendition of "Best Day of my Life."

With all of the students standing in the bleachers, they performed four numbers, including the old  gospel  "He Never Failed Me Yet" by Robert Ray.  They also sang "Can You Hear" by Jim Papoulis, "Dreams of Thee" by Ed William Barnum, and "Make Them Hear You" by Jeff Funk.

Although they did not perform as individual choirs, students from Santee and Niobrara also participated in the mass choir.

As clinician Fred Ritter said, usually when NVC students get together, it is to compete and see who is the best.  "Tonight, everyone wins."
