Verdigre 16U Team Competes At State Softball

The Verdigre 16-and-under softball team played 4 games Saturday in State Softball action in Hastings at the ASA Fields.  They ended the day with a record of 1-3.
The first game was against the Hastings Bombers at 8 am.  Verdigre had a slow start and lost the game 10-1.  That put them in the loser's bracket.They played the Scribner-Snider Red Rippers at 1:15.  It was a back-and-forth game, with Verdigre coming up just short and losing 5-7.
  The schedule had them playing right away against Blast Softball from Fremont.  They won that game 7-6 on a walk-off single. That put them against the Hastings Bombers again, where they lost 11-3.
The team played hard in all 4 games in the 90+ degree weather.   There were many impressive individual and team performances throughout the day.
